We’re very happy to offer Echelon Home’s Washed Belgian Linen collection of sheet sets, duvet cover sets, pillow cases and euro shams!
Linen has a wonderful texture, is highly breathable and is more durable than cotton. It’s certainly great to sleep on in the summer, but in fact, it’s great all year round! If you’re not familiar with linen, it’s important to appreciate the unique texture, and that it takes some time to achieve the buttery softness that is the hallmark of linen. Echelon’s linen bedding is pre-washed for softness, but they keep getting better with each wash!
The classic color palette offers great choices for any decor.
SaveLinen tends to be VERY expensive, prohibitively so for many, this has changed with Echelon Home’s Washed Belgian Linen. A queen sheet set is $169, which is about 30% less than leading retailers! It’s a great time to give linen bedding a try. Use coupon code FREESHIP at checkout for free shipping on any order over $50.
Holiday season is upon us! A wonderful, thoughtful gift for nearly anyone is towels! Our Chortex towels offer high quality and updated styling for the modern bathroom.

Now that we’re rapidly approaching summer 2015, it is definitely time to make sure your bedding is ready for the new season as well! During the hot summer it can be difficult to find the right amount of covers… with A/C blasting, you may still need some warmth, or you may just want a very light layer.
Here are some options.:
1. If you like to keep your home really cool with a lot of A/C, a summer weight down duvet may be a good option for you! Cascada Summer Weight Down Duvet is made with 600+ fill power down and offers very high quality at a moderate price.
2. Another great option is a lightweight quilted coverlet/blanket. We have three options, all by Echelon Home. They’re made with cotton sateen and filled with poly fiber fill. Here is the Laguna coverlet with a quilted geometric pattern, and a queen is just $89. A really great price point for this level of quality!
The two other options, Sonoma and Monterey are great choices as well.
As a special thank you to our blog readers, here is a coupon code for Free Shipping ($50 minimum order required): FREESHIP.
Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

We are incredibly please to be offering the gorgeous and casually-chic Pom Pom at Home bedding and bath line!
Here’s a little about them:
“As natives of Belgium, we naturally have a passion for everything “linen,” resulting in a crib and adult bedding line made of 100% linen. Our lines are versatile; with delicate embroidery, crushed velvet and hand-crocheted lace on the finest and softest linen. Pom Pom at Home embodies a “lived in” elegant look that is still relaxed and casual. This is the main inspiration to this unique collection which transforms everyday experiences into a sheer delight. We have also recognized that we live in a time where we are globally conscious of how our daily actions affect our environment. What better way to start and end your day than by having our linens as a reminder of how you did your part. Our 100% certified organic linens are made from the purest of flax fibers. The combination of luxury and environmental sustainability has never been so comfortable. Pom Pom at Home embraces the essence of life’s enjoyment. Its products evoke a sense of romantic glamour, peaceful memories, gentleness and freshness. Whether it is Pom Pom at Home’s fine linens, accessories or fragrances, all are made with the highest quality and attention to detail, always with a passion for beauty! Our vision is that each of our products will fill you with delight and bring you that little touch of luxury that makes life more pleasurable.”

Here at Linenplace, we’re crazy about 100% linen, so we couldn’t be more happy about offering their linen sheets, duvet covers, bedskirts. We also offer Pom Pom’s comfy wool blend throw blankets and decorative shams! Their cotton shower curtains will add just the right amount of feminine elegance to your bathroom (but not too much that your husband or boyfriend will protest, LOL!)
Just in time for spring break and with summer right around the corner, we’ve added some beautiful beach towels made in Turkey by Chortex! These towels are 100% cotton in a generous 40 by 70 inch size. The designs are not printed onto the towel, but are part of the weave (this is what is referred to as a yarn dyed design vs. printed). The weight of the towels is 450 grams per square meter (GSM), which is good for a beach towel. Beach towels are often made very cheaply with 200 GSM weight. The quality is definitely what you’d expect from a top towel maker like Chortex!

My favorites are the Moroccan Tile and the Conch Shells.
So where are you headed for spring break this year?
The Saarinen Round Dining Table (designed by Eero Saarinen for Knoll) is a go-to piece for interior designers. It’s a wonderful mid-century modern piece that can work well with many different aesthetics. The basic version features the cast aluminum base with a bevel-edged laminate top.

The “deluxe” version features a beautiful white marble top from Italy. $2,868.00. It’s also available with customized choices (other marble tops, wood tops, black base, etc.)

These are fantastic if you can work it into your budget! However, if not, there are some fairly decent options to get the designer look at a value price! Here is Ikea’s Docksta table… only $199.00! The base doesn’t have quite the same elegant lines and the table edge isn’t beveled, but for $199 can you really complain?

If you have your heart set on marble…here’s a reproduction on Amazon made by LexMod for only $843.35.

Happy Valentine’s Day! It’s nice to have a day to appreciate your loved ones, especially in these hectic times when it seems like we are all busy, all of the time!

It’s not too late if you’re still in need of a Valentine’s Day gift. Here are a few last minute ideas.
Godiva Chocolate Bear, $25. Here in NY you can find Godiva at Hudson News and Barnes & Noble. This guy is so cute… the bear is made by Gund and he comes with 8 tasty heart shaped chocolates (milk and dark).

Of course it’s probably too late to have flowers delivered, but you can always pick some up. Even grocery store flowers can be quite alright! Certainly better than nothing. Here in NYC you can buy roses on the street today. It seems tons of enterprising people have decided to sell roses on street corners… very handy for last minute gifts!
Another classic Valentine is fragrance! It’s easy and fast to just run into a department store or Sephora and pick one up. I like See by Chloe and Bond No. 9 I LOVE NEW YORK for Earth Day (women) and Bleu de Chanel (men).

Last idea, and super easy… is just run into a wine shop and pick up a nice bottle of Champagne. Champagne is always correct as far as I’m concerned! And you don’t in fact need to spend a lot… one of my favorite Champagnes is Piper-Heidsieck Brut NV. My local wine shops have it for about $35 – 37. It’s a great value. The non vintage releases regularly score over 90 points (WS) and was one of WS’s 2012 Top 100 Wines. I know most people automatically go for Veuve Clicquot, but I think this is just as good and a better value… and, the red label is perfect for Valentine’s day too!

For next year… don’t leave it to the last minute! A really amazing gift is a set of luxurious Italian sheets like Virtuoso or Lyric by Peacock Alley! Unlike chocolate, flowers, perfume or Champagne, these will last for years to come!
From time to time, we’re going to do posts on architecture that we love. So today, we thought we’d start with La Maison de Verre in Paris. Verre means glass in French… which I’m sure you could guess anyway by the glass block facade! This was a private home built for a French doctor completed in 1932. It’s a great example of early modern style.

The design was a collaboration by Pierre Chareau (a furniture and interiors designer), Bernard Bijvoet (a Dutch architect) and Louis Dalbet (a craftsman metalworker). It is made of steel and glass blocks. Amazing for the time! It is located at 31 Rue Saint-Guillaume in the 7th arrondissement. You would never guess it’s there because it is hidden behind a typical looking street facade that leads to a courtyard where the Maison is. You can read more about La Maison de Verre here and here.
